These three are for a morning you do not want to rush, with a hand grinder that feels a little more special. I look at design and a premium feel. I use the first two. Only the third is a short summary of what the maker publishes, not a note from my hands.
- Timemore Chestnut S5 Pro. This is the one on my counter in the morning
- EPEIOS Essence Go. The other one I own. The one line I can write is that it just spins so easily
- Comandante C40 MK4. A review summary. I have not used it
This is not a scored taste ranking. Prices are approximate.
1. Timemore Chestnut S5 Pro
The one I keep for the morning is the green model, with a folding handle. I like the design. It has a solid, premium weight, and it is not too heavy. I like this color.
Impressions from actually using it (owner review)
The beans are from Coffee Carrot (珈琲きゃろっと). That shop page is in Japanese.
- Grinding enough for two cups takes about a minute.
- It grinds with a light effort. I change the grind by clicking the outer dial, and making the cup stronger or lighter is genuinely easy.
- The handle folds, so it stores compactly.
- Taking it apart to clean is very easy.
- I like the design. It has a solid, premium weight, and it is not too heavy. I like the green.
- Grinding Coffee Carrot beans with the Timemore makes that coffee time feel like bliss.
- I have no particular complaints. A finer grind does get reasonably heavier to turn.
- With some beans, static builds up, and brushing the grounds into the dripper with the included brush is a little tedious.
If you want that unhurried morning to start with this kind of coffee time, look here first. The longer page is the Chestnut S5 Pro review.

2. EPEIOS Essence Go
Second is the other grinder I own, the EPEIOS Essence Go.
The only impression I can write is one line. It just spins so easily. The lightness of the handle when you start grinding is the difference from the S5 Pro.
Coming apart into a dedicated case is the maker's description. The longer pages are the Essence Go review and Timemore S5 Pro vs EPEIOS Essence Go.

3. Comandante C40 MK4 — review summary
I have not used a Comandante C40. I am not writing how it turns, or how it feels in the hand. It is on this list for design and a premium feel, so this section only repeats what this site already took from the official pages opened on October 31, 2026.
- The product page says it is made in Germany, and that the burr is the Nitro Blade, a high-nitrogen steel. The maker says it resists wear and needs less care
- Adjustment is a three-legged dial on the bottom. Zero is where the burrs meet, and you count the clicks you open from there. The official description does not include a numbered ring
- One glass jar and one polymer jar are included. Each holds 40g
- The official product page opened that day did not list grams, or a price in yen
- This page does not say whether it tastes better or worse than the Timemore
The longer comparison is Comandante C40 vs Timemore Chestnut S5 Pro.

Search results mix in other model numbers. Check that the title says MK4 and Nitro Blade.

The 1Zpresso K-Ultra is not one of these three. I have not used it. Where the maker places it, as one grinder across brew methods, is in the 1Zpresso hand grinder lineup.

Beans after grinding
The beans I grind on the Timemore are from Coffee Carrot (珈琲きゃろっと), the subscription I buy. Grinding those beans is the coffee time that feels like bliss. The shop page is in Japanese.
